Tourism/Working Trip
Curitiba |
General
- For all those,
who wants to visit Brazil, we already inform: in the airplane, as a tourist,
you
only have to fill out the form for the immigration, if you are going to
work in Brazil, then also fill out the form for the Policia Federal.
- As a tourist you
are allowed to stay up to 3 months without a visa.If you are going to
remain longer in Brazil you will get a visa at the Brazilian
Consulate. In order to receive a visa, you need a
police certificate of good conduct, 2 pass photos, an " invitation " from
Brazil and the documents of the consulate.
- As an immigrant worker,
you
must strive around the following things. Go to the Policia
Federal to announce and register there. Here 2 pass photos are needed!
After the registration you will receive the document of identification
anytime, including the very important RNE number. Go to the tax office register to get
the a CPF number. With CPF and RNE, you can already feel like a real Brazilian, since
you have now already very many rights.
- In order to be able to open an bank account,
you also need a written acknowledgement over your residence in Brazil. Bank account = RNE +
CPF + copy of the passport + acknowledgement
- The best way to
rent an apartment is to know a Brazilian, who takes over either the lease for
you, or which
explains itself otherwise ready to hold as defiency guarantees.
- A credit
card is absolutely recommendable. MasterCard is accepted as well as VISA.
- Cash can be withdrawn
by EC cards (Maestro) at some banks.
Without any problems you can do so at the HSBC bank.
- The power supply
is different from city to city. So you find 110V~ 60Hz in Curitiba and however in Bombinhas 230V~ 50Hz. Therefore
you should pay
attention before the departure, whether the carried electrical appliances
come along with this. (straight lines of accumulator charging
units)
- Mobile: some
cities have already the GSM net. But it still doesn't make sense to
take your mobile (cellular) with you. Who needs a mobile, can acquire
on in a mobile-store. The prices for used ones are about R$ 150-250.
To use such mobiles you don't have to make a contract. Just put some
credits on and have fun.
Update: In Sao Paulo the
provider TIM offers an 1800 MHz GSM Net. So if you have a dualband
mobile, you can use your cellular there. Within a half a year (end of
the year 2003), TIM
wants to offer this service in Curitiba, too.
