  • Meals are quite favorable in Curitiba. There are many restaurants where you can buy your food by weight. Here everybody finds something for his taste and for R$ 3-10 he will really get more than he normally needs. In other areas of Brazil the meals are knwon to be more expensive. (up to 50%)
  • Communication. Some people in Curitiba understand german very well. Thus do not use posh words, hoping that nobody will understand you. But if you would like to come along just with English and/or German, you probably won't reach your goal. The knowledge of foreign languages is usually limited.
  • Going by bus is really cheap. The trip costs only  R$1.40 R$ 1.50  (rised costs of fuel) in Curitiba.  However, to reach the goal, you still have to take the right bus. We recommend the use of  a bus timetable, which you can get at any magazine store.
  • In order to be able to have your own telephone in Curitiba, the best solution is to requests the link over the Internet at the page of GVT, a Japanese Company in Brazil. Within one month the link is done. In our case, it took only 3 days. In order to be able to request a link, you need the RNE and CPF (see the link tourism).
  • Meeting POINT: If you want to see some life in the 1.7 million city during the day, you will have to visit a shopping center. The otherwise always calm city, is only alive there.
  • Meal part 2: I swear on " Dupla Gula " - Pizza Rodizio on Av. Iguacu. The best Churrasco restaurant is the Churrascaria Curitibana. Unfortunately they know about this and so they charge around R$ 18,- per person. You will find this restaurant also on Av. Iguacu.
  • Weißbier: who has had enough from the Brazilian beer, tasting like water, can join either a club, or he can visit the "Taco el Pancho", to order an Erdinger.
