  • Do not change cash at the airport. There they usually have bad rates for exchange. However, to avoid problems, cash can be changed in travel agencies.
  • I would recommend it, to have an EC card and a credit card in hand. With EC cards, cash can be withdrawn and you will get some good conditions at some banks. The credit card you will need for paying food or to rent a car (f.e.).
  • In Parana state (PR), where Curitiba is situated, they didn't have malaria endangerment since a long time. Due to this, the windows might be heedlessly open. It is even like that, that they should be opened, since there is a type of fly, which after a sting puts a larva. These grey colored flies mostly sting only cows and dogs. In addition to this, it can occur that they sting humans. These flies however are only, where you don't have wind. Therefore leave the window open, also at night.
  • Which otherwise can still get dangerous for humans in Parana, is a brown, hairy spider. It is however quite shy and hides themselves. Therefore one should, if he stays for example in a Pousada, not leave his clothes on the floor.
  • Since there are humans, who did not renounce to the meat , we have also a culinary tap. Here in Brazil they have so mentioned Churrascorias (churrasco = grilled meat). The meat gets directly served at the desk, until one declines. The best meat calls itself Picanha and is out-slaughtered at a cattle directly beside the spinal column. To the many meat, it gives for the good conscience, still a salad buffe.
  • Who wants to eat  until he bursts at another place than a Churrascoria, he will be right in a Rodicio. Here you get also serverd as long, as you don't decline.
  • Tap to traffic. Vehicles have always right of way. A pedestrian here is really the weakest member. If one likes to cross the road, he might do this really carefully. Even busses brake extremely reluctantly. And at night, red traffic lights on principle are not considered.
  • In the evening, you find the right places to be in Bars/Clubs also like in dance sheds as well. Everywhere you can find nice society and good music. The music to that the Brazilians love to dance, is called "Forro" (spoken Fochho). For this dance you, as a European however, are only able to take part, if you spend many hours at the gymnastics, in order to be able to move the hips correctly. Otherwise you might hear a comment like: " You are dancing like a robot."
  • Traveller cheque: NEVER. To change them you need the correct bank and approx. 2 hours of time. In addition then you also must be patience and in the correct mind tendency. Only then, you will be able to point out the bank employees in the correct tone that they really must assume those cheques. It is much better, when you use Maestro or credit card.
  • € here just as gladly taken as US$.
  • 30.09 is secretary day. It is like the mother day for us. Some Brazilians maintain that the boss invites his secretary during this day into a motel. And motels in Brazil are the ones, you only hire for a few hours.
  • When they have elections in Brazil, it is strictly prohibied to drink alcohol. Thus when they have their elections on Sundays, at night from Saturday to Sunday, starting from 00.00 o'clock, they don't sell alcohol anymore (also in Bars and Clubs).
  • Brazilian condoms are not suited to anything. The one who wants to travell to Brazil, should place his "Camisinhas" (woertl. translated: Hemdchen) naturally already in his luggage before the departure.
